Home Hair removal: Difference between IPL and SHR Technology

IPL Hair Removal Technology:

Using IPL technology the light emitted is absorbed and changed into heat by the hair pigment, melanin. This process only works when the hair is dark. Hair removal of fairer hair is not very successful with the IPL method.

Advantages of the SHR Technology:

With SHR technology the hair removal methodology that involves the hair pigment uses only 50 per cent of the energy for permanent hair removal. The remaining 50 per cent is absorbed into the stem cells responsible for hair production through the skin during treatment with SHR technology.

With SHR technology one does not need single pulses with high energy. The skin is massaged six to ten times using low energy but with high frequency. This procedure is referred to as the so-called “in-Motion” methodology, because the hand piece is moved over the treated area in sliding movements. (Unlike this, the IPL technology is called “stamp technology”.)

Using the SHR technology the skin is heated gently through the melanin and the stem cells with low energy (48 degrees) but with high frequency. In that way even lighter and finer hair can be treated and removed permanently in a better way. With IPL technology the skin is heated up to 70 degrees.

A special feature of the SHR-Technology: Sun-tanned skin can also be treated.
All skin types from I to V.

Treatment with SHR technology is fast, very effective and almost painless.

The bottom-line is: Every region of your body is differently sensitive to pain, depending on the degree of hairiness and one’s own sensitivity.

How many treatments does one need?

If the hair is in the anagen phase of growth during treatment, that is to say in the active growth phase, it can merely be destroyed as is the case with IPL technology. However, one needs only about four to eight treatments in order to ensure permanent hair removal.
